I notice the referral link has https in it instead of http. Some sites don't accept the https link designation so I have been forced to submit the link without it. Would this affect my ability to sign up referrals? Does this site still register me as the referrer if I send people via the http link?

HTTP without S works too. Just check it in diferent browser or logout and put your link without S in browser,click on signup and you will see that your username will appear in registration form.
